Background
- This gene encodes a type 2 integral membrane protein that binds A- and B-type laminins. The encoded protein localizes to the inner nuclear membrane and may be involved in maintaining the attachment of the nuclear membrane to the nuclear lamina during cell division. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012].Transcript Variant: This variant (2) uses an alternate in-frame splice site in the 3' coding region, compared to variant 1. This results in a shorter protein (isoform 2), compared to isoform 1.
