    Purpose

Untagged full-length cDNA clone from Human OTX2 is ideal for over-expression of native protein for functional studies.

    Specificity

    Restriction Site: NotI-NotI

    Characteristics

    • These cDNA clones are isolated from full-length cDNA libraries and usually contain the coding sequence as well as the untranslated regions (UTRs) of the mRNA transcript appropriate to the library from which they were isolated.
    • These cDNA clones are ideal for over-expression of native proteins for functional studies. Provided as 10 μg transfection-ready plasmids.
    • Every lot of primer is tested to provide clean sequencing of cDNA clones.

    Purification

The DNAs were purified using PowerPrep HP Plasmid isolation kits for transfection ready plasmids.

    Components

    • The cDNA clone is shipped in a 2-D bar-coded Matrix tube as dried plasmid DNA.

    Background

This gene encodes a member of the bicoid subfamily of homeodomain-containing transcription factors. The encoded protein acts as a transcription factor and plays a role in brain, craniofacial, and sensory organ development. The encoded protein also influences the proliferation and differentiation of dopaminergic neuronal progenitor cells during mitosis. Mutations in this gene cause syndromic microphthalmia 5 (MCOPS5) and combined pituitary hormone deficiency 6 (CPHD6). This gene is also suspected of having an oncogenic role in medulloblastoma. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. Pseudogenes of this gene are known to exist on chromosomes two and nine. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012].Transcript Variant: This variant (1) encodes the longer isoform (a). Variants 1 and 5 encode the same protein (isoform a).
