Background
- This gene encodes a nuclear pre-mRNA splicing factor. The encoded protein specifically recognizes the intron branch point sequence and is required for the early stages of spliceosome assembly. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010].Transcript Variant: This variant (4) has multiple coding region difference, compared to variant 1, one of which results in a frameshift. It encodes isoform 4, which is shorter and has a distinct C-terminus, compared to isoform 1.
